Campofilone

Villa Caravaggio is located at the foot of the picturesque village of Campofilone. The small, romantic village was built in the high Middle Ages around the Benedictine monastery "Abbazia Benedettina di San Bartolomeo" and is today home for nearly 2,000 inhabitants. From the garden of the house, you can enjoy a wonderful view up to the village.

Walking through the village you can feel the tradition and history and be rewarded with an unforgettable view of the Adriatic Sea. However, the village gets its greatest recognition through its world-famous "Maccheroncini di Campofilone". This handcrafted fresh pasta was mentioned in documents in the early 15th century and the taste of handmade egg noodles is unmistakable. A popular festival to enjoy pasta with the locals is the "Sagra dei Maccheroncini", for which thousands travel to Campofilone in August.
